One area for which Abdul Haseeb has always had a particular passion is Special Education Needs and Disabilities (SEND). His dedication to SEND reflects his commitment to ensuring that all individuals regardless of their abilities, have access to quality education and the required support to thrive.
His passion for inclusive education began in 2015 with his work on the Disability Consulting Initiative at NOWPDP. He later gained valuable experience working at an inclusive school in Karachi, supporting students with Autism, ADHD, and Down Syndrome.
In 2019 – 2020, he worked with the Karachi Down Syndrome Program (KDSP) as their Educational Consultant to develop their Program for Inclusive Education (PIE). This program enabled students with Down Syndrome get enrolled and be successful in mainstream educational settings. A key part of this engagement was the development of a training program for Inclusion Facilitators.
In 2022 – 2023, he returned to to further consolidate the PIE program and help revamp the organization’s in-house Tailored Assistance Program (TAP). Abdul Haseeb also helped KDSP build the internal departmental capacities to independently run these programs.
In 2022, Deaf Reach reached out to Abdul Haseeb to lead its Monitoring & Evaluation department. Recognizing his leadership acumen and depth of educational knowledge, he was offered to become the organization’s Chief Education Officer. In that capacity, he was responsible for the strategic development and direction of the Educational, Vocational and Training Programs of the entire Deaf Reach network spread over 8 cities of Pakistan. He worked in tandem with international donor agencies, ran the Risk Assessment exercises, and led efforts to help build a coherent deaf-friendly curriculum.
