Edwise and Inclusive Education

At Edwise, inclusive education is not just an agenda item — it is a core value. One area that Abdul Haseeb, the founder, has always had a particular passion for is Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). His commitment stems from a deep belief that every learner, regardless of ability, deserves access to quality education and the right support to thrive.

Abdul Haseeb’s journey in inclusive education began in 2015 through the Disability Consulting Initiative at NOWPDP, where he worked on systemic solutions for accessibility. He then gained hands-on experience in an inclusive school in Karachi, supporting students with Autism, ADHD, and Down Syndrome. These formative experiences shaped Edwise’s philosophy — designing educational programs and campaigns that ensure no child is left behind.

Today, Edwise integrates inclusivity into all its projects, whether developing school improvement frameworks, designing professional learning for teachers, or creating digital wellbeing campaigns. By embedding SEND considerations into mainstream educational design, Edwise ensures that schools move beyond compliance to genuine, meaningful inclusion.

In 2019 – 2020, he worked with the Karachi Down Syndrome Program (KDSP) as their Educational Consultant to develop their Program for Inclusive Education (PIE). This program enabled students with Down Syndrome get enrolled and be successful in mainstream educational settings. A key part of this engagement was the development of a training program for Inclusion Facilitators.

In 2022 – 2023, he returned to to further consolidate the PIE program and help revamp the organization’s in-house Tailored Assistance Program (TAP). Abdul Haseeb also helped KDSP build the internal departmental capacities to independently run these programs.

In 2022, Deaf Reach reached out to Abdul Haseeb to lead its Monitoring & Evaluation department. Recognizing his leadership acumen and depth of educational knowledge, he was offered to become the organization’s Chief Education Officer. In that capacity, he was responsible for the strategic development and direction of the Educational, Vocational and Training Programs of the entire Deaf Reach network spread over 8 cities of Pakistan. He worked in tandem with international donor agencies, ran the Risk Assessment exercises, and led efforts to help build a coherent deaf-friendly curriculum.
